FOUR MORAVIAN STUDENT-ATHLETES TO COMPETE
AT NCAA DIVISION III INDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS
TERRE
HAUTE, IN --- Moravian College has four student-athletes that will
compete in three events at the 2007 NCAA Division III Indoor Track
& Field Championships hosted by the Rose-Hulman Institute of
Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana on Friday and Saturday, March
9th and 10th.
Junior
jumper/sprinter Ozzie Brown (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth
Whitemarsh HS), pictured at right, who has the 13th best
qualifying distance in the long jump of 7.05 meters (23 feet, 1
¾ inches), will compete in the preliminaries of the long
jump on Friday at 3:00 p.m. with the finals to follow immediately
with the top eight competitors. Brown is making
his second trip to the NCAA Indoor National Championships.
Brown and fellow junior Nathaniel Tussey
(Perkiomenville, PA/Boyertown HS), pictured at left, will
also compete in the preliminaries of the 55-meter hurdles on Friday
at 4:50 p.m. Brown enters the meet with the third
best time in the country this year at 7.53 seconds while Tussey,
who is making his second trip to the NCAA Championships, was tenth
of the 12 entrants at 7.64 seconds. The
top eight competitors will advance to Saturday’s championship
race at 2:35 p.m.
Moravian
also has two student-athletes slated to participate in the women’s
pole vault at noon on Friday. Freshman Anna Heim (Moorestown,
NJ/Moorestown HS), pictured at right, is currently second
with a height of 3.81 meters (12 feet, six inches) while sophomore
Christine Kihm (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown HS),
pictured at left, is tied for ninth at 3.70 meters (12 feet, 1 ½
inches) in the 15-entrant field. The top eight competitors will
participate in the finals immediately following the preliminaries.
