MORAVIAN'S KRISTIE PELLICANI NAMED COMMONWEALTH
CONFERENCE SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
ANNVILLE,
PA --- Sophomore pitcher Kristie Pellicani (Sparta, NJ/Sparta
HS) of the Moravian College softball team has been named
the Commonwealth Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for her
performance last week.
Pellicani helped the 9th-ranked Greyhounds to
4-0 record last week including a pair of wins in Commonwealth Conference
action. Moravian is 13-3 overall and 4-0 in Commonwealth Conference
action, and the Greyhounds’ only three losses are to teams
ranked in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division
III Top 25 Poll.
Pellicani began the week with a 7-0 shutout of
the United States Merchant Marine Academy, allowing just three hits
and a walk while striking out seven batters. The shutout was her
third of the season. Pellicani then allowed just
one run on three hits and four walks with three strikeouts in a
3-1 win in the first game of a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader
at Susquehanna University. She would return to the circle in game
two, allowing just a walk in 1 2/3 innings to earn her first collegiate
save in an 8-5 win.
For the week, Pellicani had a 0.45 ERA in 15
2/3 innings with ten strikeouts. She also hit .333 with one hit
in three at-bats to go with a run. Pellicani added
a putout, six assists and an error in the field.
Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, April 3rd
in a non-conference doubleheader at DeSales University beginning
at 3:00 p.m. in Center Valley.
