MORAVIAN'S MARIA DeBONIS NAMED COMMONWEALTH
CONFERENCE SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK
ANNVILLE,
PA --- Sophomore pitcher Maria DeBonis (Nazareth, PA/Notre
Dame HS) of the Moravian College softball team has been
named the Commonwealth Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for
her performance last week.
DeBonis, who was also the Commonwealth Conference
Pitcher of the Week on March 26th, had a 2-0 record last week to
help eighth-ranked Moravian to a 3-1 record last week including
a sweep of future Landmark Conference foe Drew University.
DeBonis tossed her fourth shutout of the season
for Moravian in a 9-0, five inning game at DeSales University, allowing
just two hits and two walks while striking out six batters. DeBonis
improved to 7-2 in the circle with her fifth shutout of the season,
defeating Drew University, 12-0 in five innings. DeBonis
allowed just one hit and two walks while striking out 11 batters.
For the week, DeBonis allowed just three hits
and four walks while striking out 17 batters in ten innings. At
the plate, DeBonis, who is Moravian’s designated
player when not pitching, had a .556 batting average with five hits
in nine at-bats. DeBonis also had three doubles,
four RBIs, three walks and two runs. She also made two assists in
two chances in the field.
Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Monday, April 9th
in a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader versus Widener University
beginning at 3:00 p.m. in Bethlehem.
