TWO MORAVIAN COLLEGE BASEBALL PLAYERS RANKED
IN FINAL 2007 NCAA DIVISION III BASEBALL STATISTICS
INDIANAPOLIS,
IN --- The Moravian College baseball team has two players ranked
in the final 2007 NCAA Division III baseball statistical ranking
released Wednesday.
Senior shortstop Pete Moore (Bogota, NJ/Bogota HS)
was ranked 47th in the nation in slugging percentage with a .672
slugging percentage this spring. Moore, who hit
.396 with a single season school record of 53 hits in 134 at-bats,
had 11 doubles, four triples and six home runs for 90 total bases
in 36 games this season. Moore, pictured at right,
completed his career as the school record holder in games played
(145), at-bats (502), hits (171), doubles (34) and total bases (261)
while being second in school history with a .340 career batting
average, in runs (108) and RBIs (86). Moore was
also third all-time at Moravian triples (10) and assists (290),
and he ranks fourth in career home runs (12) and tied for fifth
in stolen bases (28).
Sophomore
outfielder Joseph Durso (Middletown, NJ/Christian Brother
Academy) was tied for 50th in the country in doubles per
game with an average of 0.42. Durso, pictured at
left, set the school record with 15 doubles this past season in
36 games, and he hit .320 with 40 hits, 26 RBIs, three home runs
and 14 runs for the Greyhounds.
Moravian was 16-20 on the season and 9-12 in Commonwealth Conference
action under the direction of first-year head coach Paul Engelhardt.
