MORAVIAN’S OZZIE BROWN EARNS ECAC
DIVISION III MALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS

COD, MA --- Junior Ozzie Brown (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth
Whitemarsh HS) of the Moravian College men’s indoor
track and field team has been named the first Eastern Collegiate
Athletic Conference Division III Male Track Athlete of the Week
for the 2006-07 season announced Tuesday.
Brown led Moravian at its season opening meet,
a non-scoring invitational hosted by NCAA Division I Lafayette College,
by winning two events. Brown captured first in
the 300-yard dash in 32.86 seconds, and he won the long jump with
a leap of 6.84 meters (22 feet, 5 ¼ inches), just shy of
qualifying for the NCAA Division III Championships in his first
jump of the year. Brown also placed second in the
60-yard hurdles in 7.82 seconds after qualifying first for the finals
in 7.68 seconds. Brown ran on Moravian’s
4x440-yard relay team that placed third in 3:34.52, and he was tied
for third in the high jump, clearing a height of 1.90 meters (six
feet, 2 ¾ inches).
Moravian will return to action on Friday, December 8th at the
Lehigh University Season Opening Invitational beginning at 6:00
p.m. in Bethlehem.
