MORAVIAN’S OZZIE BROWN EARNS ECAC
DIVISION III MALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS

COD, MA --- Junior Ozzie Brown (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth
Whitemarsh HS) of the Moravian College men’s indoor
track and field team has been named the Eastern Collegiate Athletic
Conference Division III Male Track Athlete of the Week for his performance
last week.
Brown, who also won the award back in December,
led Moravian to a fifth place finish of 11 schools at the 15th Annual
John Covert Classic hosted by Lehigh University. The Greyhounds
were the top scoring non-NCAA Division I school with 42 points.
Brown captured the 60-meter hurdles in a school
record time of 8.24 seconds which provisionally qualifies him for
the NCAA Division III Indoor National Championships. Brown
scored a total of 32 of Moravian's 42 points at the meet.
In addition to the ten points he received for winning the 60-meter
hurdles, Brown picked up eight points for a second
place finish in the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.84 seconds, eight
points for a second place in the long jump with a leap of 6.98 meters
(22 feet, 11 inches) and six points for placing third in the 60-meter
dash in school record time of 7.08 seconds. Brown
had a school record time of 7.10 seconds in the preliminaries of
the 60-meter dash, which was third in qualifying, and Brown
was first after the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles with a
school record time of 8.27 seconds.
Moravian will return to action on Saturday, February 3rd at the
8th Annual Dick DeShriver Invitational hosted by East Stroudsburg
University of Pennsylvania.
