MORAVIAN COLLEGE FOOTBALL TEAM SELECTED
FOURTH IN CENTENNIAL CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL
LANCASTER, PA --- The Moravian College football team has been
selected to finish fourth in the 2007 Centennial Conference preseason
poll selected by the conference's head coaches and sports information
directors and released at the 2007 Centennial Conference media day
luncheon at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster Monday.
The Greyhounds, under the direction of head coach Scot Dapp entering
his 21st season with a 121-84-1 record, return 52 letterwinners
from last year's 4-6 squad as Moravian joins the Centennial Conference
as an associate member in the sport of football beginning in 2007.
The Greyhounds were 4-5 in their final Middle Atlantic Conference
season last fall, and expect to have 112 players report to camp
on August 10th.
Ursinus College was selected first in the Centennial Conference
poll with seven first-place votes and 112 points. Johns Hopkins
University was second with four first-place votes and 105 points
while defending Centennial Conference Champion Dickinson College
was picked third with three first-place votes and 94 points. Moravian
garnered two first-place votes and 76 points while the Greyhounds
arch-rival Muhlenberg College was fifth with 74 points. Rounding
out the poll was Gettysburg College in sixth with one first-place
vote and 67 points, Franklin & Marshall College at seventh with
the final first-place vote and 52 points, McDaniel College in eighth
with 44 points and conference newcomer Juniata College with 17 points.
Moravian will begin its 2007 schedule on Thursday, August 30th
in a non-conference game at Susquehanna University kicking off at
7:30 p.m. while the Greyhounds will open their Centennial Conference
season on Saturday, September 8th versus McDaniel College at Rocco
Calvo Field in Bethlehem at 1:00 p.m.
