MORAVIAN WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SQUAD SELECTED THIRD IN LANDMARK CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL

MADISON, N.J. --- The 2007 Moravian College women’s volleyball squad has been picked third in the inaugural Landmark Conference season in a preseason poll selected by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

Juniata College, the defending NCAA Division III National Champion, was selected first in the poll with 60 points, seven points ahead of second place The University of Scranton with 53 points. The Greyhounds earned 44 points for the third spot while Susquehanna University was selected fourth with30 points. Rounding out the poll were The Catholic University of America with 28 points in fifth place, Goucher College in sixth place with 26 points and the United States Merchant Marine Academy in seventh place with 11 points.

The Moravian program has its sights set on a return to the postseason in 2007 with the return of three starters and five letterwinners and the debut of the new Landmark Conference. Head coach Shelly Bauder looks for improvement of last year’s 16-14 record that reached the conference tournament and the ECAC Division III Southern Tournament. The team began its preseason on Friday, August 17th.

The Greyhounds begin their 2007 season on Friday, August 31st with two home matches versus Centenary College and Sweet Briar College in the Fifth Annual Greyhound Premiere Tournament in Breidegam Fieldhouse. The Landmark Conference will play two round-round weekends during the season with the first scheduled for Juniata College on September 23rd and 24th.
