MORAVIAN MEN'S SOCCER TEAM PICKED FIFTH IN LANDMARK CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL

MADISON, N.J. --- The 2007 Moravian College men’s soccer team has been selected fifth in the inaugural Landmark Conference season in a preseason poll selected by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

The United States Merchant Marine Academy was picked first in the poll with 85 points, just one point ahead of second place The University of Scranton with 53 points. Susquehanna University was selected third with 65 points while Drew University was fourth with 61 points. The Greyhounds earned 43 points for the fifth spot, just one point ahead of Goucher College. Rounding out the poll are The Catholic University of America with 24 points in seventh place and Juniata College in eighth place with 17 points.

The Moravian program has high expectations for the 2007 season with the return of 21 letterwinners from last year’s squad and the beginning of competition in the Landmark Conference. Head coach Eric Lambinus has nine starters returning as well from last year's 5-12-2 squad. The team began its preseason on Sunday, August 19th.

The Greyhounds begin their 2007 season on Friday, August 31st with a home match versus Gordon College beginning at 4:00 p.m. on the HUB Quad. Moravian’s first-ever Landmark Conference match on Saturday, September 22nd versus Juniata College. The top four teams in the conference will advance to the postseason which begins on Wednesday, October 31st.
