MORAVIAN MEN’S BASKETBALL SQUAD SELECTED FIFTH IN LANDMARK CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL

MADISON, N.J. --- The 2007-08 Moravian College men’s basketball team has been picked fifth in the inaugural Landmark Conference season in a preseason poll selected by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

The University of Scranton was picked first in the poll with 84 points while Susquehanna University is second with 73points. The Catholic University of America and Juniata College hold the third and fourth spots with 65 and 61 points respectively while the Greyhounds hold down the fifth spot with 51 points.  Drew University and The United States Merchant Marine Academy are tied for sixth in the poll with 36 points while Goucher College received 14 points.

The 2007-08 Moravian College men’s basketball team looks to rebound from last season and challenge for a berth in the first Landmark Conference tournament this winter. Head coach Jim Walker, who enters his 28th season, has ten letterwinners and four starters back from last year's 11-14 squad.

The Greyhounds will begin the 2007-08 season at the Emmanuel College Tournament in Boston, Massachusetts on Saturday, November 17th against host Emmanuel College with a 5:00 p.m. tip-off.  Moravian’s first-ever Landmark Conference game is on Saturday, December 1st at The University of Scranton.  The top four teams in the conference will advance to the postseason which begins on Wednesday, February 27th.
