MORAVIAN’S BISCI NAMED TO D3HOOPS.COM WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ALL-REGION THIRD TEAM

STERLING, VA --- Sophomore forward Alyssa Bisci (Easton, PA/Easton HS) of the Moravian College women’s basketball team has been named to the 2008 D3hoops.com All-Region Third Team announced Wednesday.

Moravian has posted a 16-11 record this season including a 9-5 mark in the inaugural Landmark Conference campaign to earn the third seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament.  The Greyhounds also competed in the 2008 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division III Southern Tournament for the second straight season as Moravian has been in the postseason for seven straight years.

Bisci, who missed four games with an injury that occurred in the season opener, averaged 11.0 per contest to go along with 5.9 rebounds per game, 26 steals, 25 assists and four blocked shots.  She is currently tied for 13th in the nation in free throw percentage at 87.1 percent, making 88 of 101 free throws.  Bisci was also honored as the Landmark Conference Player of the Week twice this season. 

Three other Landmark Conference student-athletes earned All-Region honors with Jen Hnatuck of Juniata College on the First Team, Kelly Ashcraft of Juniata on the Second Team and Kathleen Daly from the University of Scranton joining Bisci on the Third Team.  Locally, LeighAnn Burke of DeSales University made the First Team, Stephanie Roberts from Centenary College was on the Second Team and Moira Donahue from Delaware Valley and Lauren Boyle of Muhlenberg College joined Bisci on the Third Team.
