MORAVIAN’S JOSEPH DURSO HONORED AS LANDMARK CONFERENCE BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

MADISON, NJ --- Junior first baseman Joseph Durso (Middletown, NJ/Christian Brother Academy) of the Moravian College baseball team has been named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week for his performance last week.

Durso led the Greyhounds to a 4-0 record last week including a three-game sweep of the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Landmark Conference action. Durso hit .625 for the week with ten hits in 16 at-bats.  He also scored ten runs and had five RBIs, three doubles, a home run, a walk and a stolen base. Durso was also hit by two pitches for a .684 on-base percentage, had a 1.000 slugging percentage and had 20 putouts, two assists and two errors in the field.

In an 8-3 win over rival Muhlenberg College to begin the week, Durso was one-for-four with a pair of runs scored.  He then went four-for-four with four runs scored, two doubles, a home run, a walk and an RBI in a 15-9 victory at USMMA.  Durso opened a doubleheader at USMMA with a four-for-five performance, two runs, three RBIs and a double in a 12-4 win.  He finished the week with a one-for three performance, two runs scored, an RBI and a stolen base in an 11-5 victory over USMMA.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, March 25th in a non-conference game at Montclair State University beginning at 3:30 p.m.
