MORAVIAN’S BETH PALY & ELIZABETH PYTHON HONORED AS LANDMARK CONFERENCE SOFTBALL
PLAYER AND PITCHER OF THE WEEK

MADISON, NJ --- Senior infielder Beth Paly (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall HS) of the Moravian College softball team has been named the Landmark Conference Softball Player of the Week while freshman pitcher Elizabeth Python (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman HS) earned Pitcher of the Week accolades for their performances last week.

The duo helped Moravian to a 4-0 record last week as the Greyhounds extended their winning streak to nine straight games with eight of the wins by shutout.

Paly, pictured at right, hit .545 in three games with six hits in 11 at-bats to go with three runs, two RBIs and a double. Paly was three-for-four with two runs, an RBI and a double in a 9-0 victory in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader at Albright College. Paly then went one-for-four with an RBI in a 6-2 win over Juniata College to open a Landmark Conference doubleheader.  In the second game, Paly was two-for-three with a run scored.  Paly also had three putouts and an assist while playing one games at catcher, one at shortstop and one as designated player during the week.

Python, pictured at left, tossed a pair of shutouts last week and allowed just two hits while striking out seven batters. Python began the week with the first no-hitter of her collegiate career, the 9-0, five-inning victory at Albright.  She allowed a runner to reach on an error while striking out three batters. Python then threw her fifth straight shutout in a 10-0, five-inning win over Juniata in Landmark Conference action.  She allowed two hits while striking out four batters in the win, and Python also had a putout against

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, April 8th in a non-conference doubleheader at Delaware Valley College at 3:00 p.m. in Doylestown.
