MORAVIAN’S ELIZABETH PYTHON NAMED ECAC DIVISION III SOUTH SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

CAPE COD, MA --- Freshman pitcher Elizabeth Python (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman HS) of the Moravian College softball team has been named the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division III South Softball Pitcher of the Week for her performance last week.

Python helped Moravian to a 4-0 record last week as the Greyhounds extended their winning streak to nine straight games with eight of the wins by shutout.

Python tossed a pair of shutouts last week and allowed just two hits while striking out seven batters. Python began the week with the first no-hitter of her collegiate career, the 9-0, five-inning victory at Albright College.  She allowed a runner to reach on an error while striking out three batters. Python then threw her fifth straight shutout in a 10-0, five-inning win over Juniata College in Landmark Conference action.  She allowed two hits while striking out four batters in the win, and Python also had a putout against the Eagles.

Moravian, which is 17-5 overall, is scheduled to return to action on Thursday, April 10th in a non-conference doubleheader at rival Muhlenberg College at 3:00 p.m. in Allentown.
