MORAVIAN’S MARIA DeBONIS HONORED AS LANDMARK CONFERENCE SOFTBALL PITCHER OF THE WEEK

MADISON, NJ --- Junior pitcher/designated player Maria DeBonis (Nazareth, PA/Notre Dame HS) of the Moravian College softball team has been named the Landmark Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for her performance last week.

DeBonis, who was named the Landmark Conference pitcher of the week for the third time this season, posted a 4-0 record last week as the Greyhounds went 5-1 and clinched the top seed in the 2008 Landmark Conference Tournament.  DeBonis had a 0.00 ERA in 21 2/3 innings of action while allowing 13 hits and seven walks.  She struck out 23 batters during the week.  Even though she threw a 1-0 shutout of DeSales University on Sunday, DeBonis shared the shutout due to the flex rule.

At the plate, DeBonis hit .368 for the week with seven hits in 19 at-bats to go along with five runs, six RBIs, two doubles, a home run and two walks.  She also had two putouts and three assists in the field.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Tuesday, April 22nd in a non-conference doubleheader at Swarthmore College beginning at 3:00 p.m.
