FORMER GREYHOUND HEIDI WOLFSBERGER FINISHES 28th AT 2008 UNITED STATES OLYMPIC MARATHON TRIALS

BOSTON, MA — Moravian College graduate Heidi Wolfsberger, class of 2002, placed 28th of 124 finishers in a time of 2:41.21 at the 2008 United States Olympic Marathon Trials.

Wolfsberger, who earned multiple All-Amerian accolades and captured the 2001 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championship in the 1,500 meter run, was competing in just her second marathon and was in 37th place at the halfway point after qualifying for the Olympic Trials in her first race. Wolfsberger, who had a pace of 6:10 per mile in the Olympic Trials, finished 49th overall and third among women at the 2007 Philadelphia Marathon on November 18th in a time of 2:44.03 to qualify for the Olympic Trials.

Wolfsberger, pictured at right running in the 2001 Penn Relays, was just under 12 minutes behind leader Deena Kastor, who had a winning time of 2:29.35. The top three runners at the Olympic trials qualified for the 2008 Olympic Games in Bejing, China. Joining Kastor on the Olympic squad are Magdalena Lewy Boulet, who had a time of 2:30.19, and Blake Russell, who ran a 2:32.40.
