MORAVIAN MEN’S TENNIS SQUAD TO TRAVEL TO DREW UNIVERSITY IN LANDMARK CONFERENCE SEMIFINALS

BETHLEHEM, PA --- The Moravian College men’s tennis team has earned the fourth seed in the 2008 Landmark Conference Championship Tournament and will travel to top-seeded Drew University in a semifinal match on Wednesday, April 23rd in Madison, New Jersey at 4:30 p.m. 

The Greyhounds are 6-7-1 overall and posted a 4-3 mark in the inaugural Landmark Conference season while the Rangers are 10-5 overall and 7-0 in Landmark Conference action.  Wednesday’s other semifinal has third seeded The University of Scranton traveling to second seed The Catholic University of America at 3:30 p.m.  The semifinal winners will meet on Saturday, April 22nd at the highest remaining seed to determine the first-ever Landmark Conference Champion.

Moravian head coach Jim Walker has the Greyhounds in the postseason for the second straight season with a team that includes no seniors.

Freshman Thomas Turcich (Haddon Township, NJ/Haddon Township HS) has a 12-5 singles mark with a 6-1 slate at fifth singles and a 4-2 record at fourth singles while sophomore Ian Box (Charlestown, MA/The Rivers School) is 12-1 at first singles after missing the fall portion of the season. Sophomore Chandler Forman (Plymouth, MA/Plymouth HS) has a 10-10 singles mark this season including an 8-4 slate at third singles. 

Freshman Matthew Share (Langhorne, PA/Neshaminy HS) is 5-9 in singles action including a 4-7 mark at sixth singles.  Sophomore Jason Bonilla (Whitestone, NY/Bayside HS) has a 4-14 singles slate including a 4-8 mark at second singles but missed a pair of matches earlier this month with an injury. Junior Keith Feinman (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield HS) is 6-14 in singles action this season with a 3-1 mark at fifth singles.

In doubles action, Forman and Turcich have combined for a 9-6 record including a 7-5 slate at second doubles while Box and Feinman are 7-5 at first doubles.  Bonilla and Share are 3-7 at third doubles this spring.
