MORAVIAN’S OZZIE BROWN EARNS ECAC DIVISION III MALE TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK HONORS

CAPE COD, MA --- Senior Ozzie Brown (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh HS) of the Moravian College men’s indoor track and field team has been named the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division III Male Track Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.

Brown led Moravian at its season opening meet, a non-scoring invitational hosted by NCAA Division I Lehigh University, by winning three individual events.  Brown captured first in 60-meter dash in 7.10 seconds, the 60-meter hurdles in a school record and NCAA Division III Provisional qualifying time of 8.23 seconds, and the long jump with a leap of 6.85 meters (22 feet, 5 ¾ inches), just shy of qualifying for the NCAA Division III Championships in his first jump of the year.

Brown ran on Moravian’s 4x400-meter relay team that placed first in 3:32.54 and he was tied second in the 200-meter dash in 22.86 seconds.  Brown surpassed the ECAC Division III qualifying standard in his four individual events while the relay team missed qualifying by four seconds.

Moravian will return to action on Sunday, January 20th at the Susquehanna University range and Maroon Classic beginning at 10:00 a.m. in Selinsgrove.
