MORAVIAN’S OZZIE BROWN & BLAIR MAGINNIS HONORED AS LANDMARK CONFERENCE
MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

MADISON, NJ --- Senior sprinter/jumper Ozzie Brown (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth Whitemarsh HS) of the Moravian College men’s indoor track & field team has been named the Landmark Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week while junior thrower Blair Maginnis (Asbury, NJ/Warren Hills Regional HS) has been honored as the Field Athlete of the Week for their performances last week.

Brown, pictuered at right, and Maginnis helped Moravian to a first place finish in the NCAA Division II & III meet at the Thomson Invitational hosted by the University of Delaware, and Brown also competed at the Muhlenberg College Pentathlon. 

Brown, who was named the Landmark Conference Track Athlete of the Week for the second time in three weeks while being honored for the third straight week, won the Muhlenberg Pentathlon with an ECAC qualifying total of 3,715 points. Brown was first in four of the five events, capturing the 55-meter hurdles in 7.5 seconds for 919 points, the long jump with an NCAA Division III automatic qualifying leap of 7.25 meters (23 feet, ten inches) for 876 points, the shot put with a toss of 12.55 meters (41 feet, 2 1/4 inches) for 640 points and the high jump, clearing 1.91 meters (six feet, 3 1/4 inches) for 723 points. Brown was fifth in the 1,000-meter run, earning 557 points for a time of 3:11.2. 

Brown then helped Moravian win the Division II & III meet at the Thomson Invitational with team total of 131 points.  Brown scored 25 of those points with a pair of first place finishes and a fourth place finish.  Brown captured the long jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 6.88 meters (22 feet, seven inches) and the 60-meter hurdles in an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying time of 8.29 seconds to earn 20 points.  Brown was fourth in the 60-meter dash in 7.14 seconds to earn five more points for the Greyhounds.

Maginnis, who won Landmark Conference Field Athlete of the Week for the second time in three weeks, won the shot put with a school record, NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying distance of 15.67 meters (51 feet, five inches) to earn ten points of Moravian's 131 point total. Maginnis, pictured at left, also qualified for the ECAC Championships in the 20-pound weight throw with a second place toss of 14.84 meters (48 feet, 8 1/4 inches) to earn another eight points for the Greyhounds.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Friday and Saturday, February 8th and 9th at the Cornell University Open in Ithaca, New York.
