MORAVIAN WOMEN’S TENNIS TEAM PICKED AS FAVORITE IN LANDMARK CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL

MADISON, N.J. --- The 2008 Moravian College women’s tennis team has been picked as the favorite to win the first-ever Landmark Conference title in a preseason poll selected by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

The Greyhounds sit on top of the poll with 57 points, six points ahead of second place The Catholic University of America. The University of Scranton is third in the poll with 41 points followed by Juniata College with 33 points, Susquehanna University with 32 points, Goucher College with 26 points and Drew University with 12 points.

Expectations are high for the 2007-08 Moravian women’s tennis team as the Greyhounds look to build on the program’s first-ever NCAA Division III Tournament appearance in 2007.  The Greyhounds were 14-3 overall in 2006-07 under the direction of head coach Dawn Ketterman-Benner, and the team returns seven letterwinners from last season.

The Greyhounds, who were just 2-4 in the fall season with a pair of one-point losses, begin the spring portion of their 2007-08 season on Saturday, March 15th in the squad’s first-ever Landmark Conference match at Catholic beginning at 1:00 p.m.
