MORAVIAN’S BISCI & HARRISON NAMED TO WOMEN’S BASKETBALL LANDMARK ALL-CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM;
GREYHOUND STAFF RECOGNIZED AS LANDMARK CONFERENCE COACHING STAFF OF THE YEAR

MADISON, N.J. --- Sophomores forward Alyssa Bisci (Easton, PA/Easton HS) and guard Kate Harrison (Cold Spring Harbor, NY/Cold Spring Harbor HS) of the Moravian College women’s basketball team have been named to the 2008 Landmark All-Conference Second Team while Greyhound head coach Mary Beth Spirk and her staff were honored as the inaugural Landmark Conference Coaching Staff of the Year as released by the conference office.

Moravian has posted a 16-9 record this season including a 9-5 mark in the inaugural Landmark Conference campaign to earn the third seed in the upcoming Landmark Conference Tournament.  The Greyhounds will travel to Juniata College for a semifinal game on Wednesday, February 27th at 7:00 p.m.

Spirk, pictured at right, and her assistant coaches of Daniel Tannous, Amy Endler and Melissa Newhard Torba have the Greyhounds in the postseason for the seventh straight year and the 18th time in Spirk’s 21 seasons as Moravian’s coach.  This is the seventh time in her career that Spirk has been honored by a conference for her work on the court during the season. Endler and Torba are both former players under coach Spirk and have been inducted into Moravian’s Athletic Hall of Fame.

Bisci, who missed four games with an injury that occurred in the season opener, is averaging 11.3 per contest to go along with 6.1 rebounds per game, 23 steals, 24 assists and four blocked shots.  She is currently tied for 11th in the nation in free throw percentage at 87.1 percent, making 88 of 101 free throws.  Bisci, pictured at left, was also honored as the Landmark Conference Player of the Week twice this season. 

Harrison is netting in 11.4 points per game to go along with 4.3 rebounds per contest, 53 assists, 30 steals and 16 blocked shots.  In her last two games, Harrison, pictured at right, scored a career high 18 points at the Catholic University of America on February 17th and then added another career high of 22 points in a double-overtime loss to The University of Scranton last Saturday.

The Landmark All-Conference First Team includes guard Megan Kopecki and forward Kathleen Daly from Scranton, guard Claudia McDowell and forward Kelly Ashcraft from Juniata, guard/forward Shadae Swan from Goucher College and forward Morgan Gartner from the United States Merchant Marine Academy. 

Joining Bisci and Harrison on the All-Conference Second Team were forward Jen Hnatuck from Juniata, guard Allison Hartnett of Drew University, guard Rachel Hughes from Susquehanna University and guard/forward Brianna Peterson of Catholic.

Daly was named the first-ever Landmark Conference Player of the Year while Kopecki garnered the Rookie of the Year award.  Guard Brooke Piccillo from the United States Merchant Marine Academy was honored as the Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Year.
