MORAVIAN MEN’S TENNIS TEAM SELECTED THIRD IN LANDMARK CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL

MADISON, N.J. --- The 2008 Moravian College men’s tennis team has been selected to finish third the first-ever Landmark Conference title in a preseason poll selected by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

Drew University sits atop the poll with a total of 82 points while The Catholic University of America was selected second with 69 points.  The Greyhounds are in the third spot with 60 points and followed by The University of Scranton at 50 points.  Rounding out the poll were Juniata College in fifth place with 42 points, Goucher College in sixth with 38 points, the United States Merchant Marine Academy in seventh with total of 36 points and Susquehanna University at eighth with 15 points. 

The Greyhounds and head coach Jim Walker are excited about the upcoming year as Moravian transitions into the Landmark Conference. Moravian hopes to challenge for the first-ever conference title in the spring and returns four of its six starters from last year’s squad.  Moravian posted an overall record of 9-6 as the Greyhounds made their first postseason appearance in five years.

The Greyhounds, who competed in three tournaments during the fall portion of the season, begin the spring portion of their 2007-08 season on Wednesday, March 5th in a non-conference match versus NAIA Aquinas (MI) College in Orlando, Florida.  Moravian opens its inaugural Landmark Conference season on Saturday, March 15th at Catholic in a conference match beginning at 1:00 p.m.
