MORAVIAN FIELD HOCKEY TIED FOR FIFTH IN LANDMARK CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL

MADISON, N.J. --- The Moravian College field hockey team has been selected to tie fifth in the 2008 Landmark Conference season in a preseason poll selected by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

The Catholic University of America was picked first in the poll with 62 points while Juniata College, which won the inaugural Landmark Conference title in 2007 and reached the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament last year as an at-large selection was second with 59 points.  Drew University earned 48 points to finish third in the poll while The University of Scranton received 30 points to hold down the fourth position.  Moravian and Susquehanna University each received 28 points to tie for fifth place while Goucher College rounded out the poll with 18 points.

The Greyhounds look to move forward with the progression the team has posted over the last few years with seven returning starters and 18 returning letterwinners back for the 2008 season under the direction of head coach Amy Endler.  The team began its preseason on Sunday, August 17th.

Moravian begins its 2008 season on Saturday, August 30th in a non-conference match at Wilkes University at 1:00 p.m.  The Greyhounds will play their first home match at Betty Prince Field on Saturday, September 13th in a non-conference contest with Elizabethtown College at 1:00 p.m.  Moravian opens the 2008 Landmark Conference season on Saturday, September 27th versus Juniata at Betty Prince Field at 1:00 p.m.
