MORAVIAN MEN’S SOCCER TEAM PICKED FIFTH IN LANDMARK CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL

MADISON, N.J. --- The Moravian College men’s soccer team has been selected fifth in the 2008 Landmark Conference season in a preseason poll selected by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

The Drew University, the defending Landmark Conference Champion was picked first in the poll with 83 points, eight point ahead of second place The United States Merchant Marine Academy with 75 points. Susquehanna University was selected third with 72 points while The University of Scranton was fourth with 64 points.  The Greyhounds earned 38 points for the fifth spot, just one point ahead of The Catholic University of America.  Rounding out the poll are Goucher College with 36 points in seventh place and Juniata College in eighth place with 15 points.

The Moravian program has high expectations going into the 2008 season with the return of 18 letterwinners and seven starters. Head coach Eric Lambinus is coming off of a 7-11 season and looks to challenge for a Landmark Conference playoff berth. This season also marks the final year coach Lambinus will coach both Moravian's men's and women's soccer programs as the college has decided to split the position and hire a men's coach after the 2008 campaign..  The team began its preseason on Saturday, August 16th.

The Greyhounds begin their 2008 season on Friday, August 29th when they face off against Neumann College in the Moravian/Muhlenberg Tournament. The match will be played at the Moravian College Quadrangle at 4:00 p.m. The Greyhounds will then host William Patterson University on Saturday, August 30th to finish out the tournament.  Moravian will begin Landmark Conference action on Saturday, September 27th at Juniata in a 3:30 p.m. match.
