MORAVIAN TO REDEDICATE BETTY PRINCE FIELD ON NOVEMBER 1ST

BETHLEHEM, PA --- The Moravian College field hockey team will rededicate Betty Prince Field on the 20th anniversary of the original dedication on Saturday, November 1st when the Greyhounds host Drew University in their 2008 regular season finale.

The senior day match with the Rangers will begin at 1:00 p.m. with the rededication ceremony to immediately follow the match.  There will be a reception in the UBC room of the Haupert Union Building at 3:30 p.m.  The field was originally dedicated in 1988, two seasons after Prince retired.

Prince was a long time coach and physical education instructor at Moravian while being the first Greyhound coach of the field hockey and women’s tennis programs.  In 13 seasons as the head field hockey coach, Prince led the Greyhounds to a 60-53-17 overall record with a then school-record 9-4 season in 1985, her next to last season.  She also led the program to an 8-2-2 mark in 1978.

Prince began the women’s tennis program in 1975 and coached for 12 seasons before retiring.  Her best season on the courts was a 4-4 mark in 1983.
