MORAVIAN’S KATIE MOQUETE HONORED LANDMARK CONFERENCE WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

MADISON, NJ --- Freshman outside hitter Katie Moquete (Midland Park, NJ/Midland Park HS) of the Moravian College women’s volleyball team has been named the 2008 Landmark Conference Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Year announced Monday.

Moquete helped the Greyhounds to a 14-19 mark this season and a berth in the Landmark Conference Tournament.  Moravian, which was seeded fourth in the tournament, reached the semifinals of the tournament before falling to top seed Juniata College.

Moquete had a team high 309 kills this season to go along with a .215 hitting percentage, 95 digs, 32 blocks, 12 service aces and six assists.  Moquete is the second straight Greyhound player to win Landmark Conference Rookie of the Year honors after sophomore middle hitter Mary King (Paramus, NJ/Paramus HS) won the award last fall.
