MORAVIAN’S ANDREW MORRISSEY NAMED TO D3FOOTBALL.COM TEAM OF THE WEEK

MINNEAPOLIS, MN --- Senior linebacker Andrew Morrissey (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus HS) of the Moravian College football team has been named the D3football.com Team of the Week for his performance in the Greyhounds’ 27-24 overtime Centennial Conference upset victory over rival Muhlenberg College last Saturday.

Morrissey made 11 tackles in the game with six solo stops in the victory.  He had a sack for a loss of eight yards in the second quarter on which he forced a fumble that Muhlenberg recovered.  Morrissey forced the fumble that led to Moravian’s game-tying score with 54 seconds remaining in regulation, and he also had an interception with a 13-yard return in the final 15 seconds of the fourth quarter to stop a Muhlenberg drive and force overtime.  The turnovers were two of four Moravian forced in the game. The Greyhounds lead the conference and are in the top 20 in the nation in turnover margin, and Moravian was a plus-two in the victory.

The Greyhounds will close out the 2008 season by hosting Salisbury University in the 2008 ECAC Division III Southwest Bowl on Saturday, November 22nd with kickoff slated for 12:00 p.m. at Rocco Calvo Field.
