THREE GREYHOUNDS, MORAVIAN TEAM RANKED IN FINAL NCAA DIVISION III WOMEN’S BASKETBALL STATISTICS
Greyhounds Lead Nation in Free Throw Percentage

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Three members of the Moravian College women’s basketball team and the Greyhound squad are ranked in the final NCAA Division III statistics release of the 2008-09 season.  Moravian finished the season as the top free throw shooting team in the country.

Junior forward Alyssa Bisci (Easton, PA/Easton HS) ranked seventh in the country in free throw percentage at 89.7 percent having made 130 of 145 free throw attempts in 27 games.  Bisci, pictured at right, made a school record 50 straight free throws from December 12th to January 25th.

Junior guard Jessica Foran (Annandale, NJ/Rutgers Prep HS), pictured at left, was 19th in the nation in free throw percentage at 87.6 percent for the season, and she is 92 of 105 at the line in 27 games.

Sophomore guard/forward Amy Heffner (Schnecksville, PA/Parkland HS), pictured at bottom right, was 33rd in the country in free throw percentage at 85.4 percent, having made 76 of 89 free throw attempts in the 26 games she has played in.

Moravian finished the season as the top team in the nation in free throw percentage after seven weeks as the top team.  The Greyhounds connected on 80.3 percent of their free throws, making 564 of 702 free throw attempts.  Moravian is just the third team in NCAA Division III history to shoot over 80 percent from the foul line in a single season, and the Greyhounds; 564 made free throws and 702 attempted free throws are the most of any for an NCAA free throw champion in the 28 years of NCAA Division III.

The Greyhounds were also 26th in scoring offense at 73.0 points per game.

Moravian, which finished the season 21-7 overall and finished 10-4 in the Landmark Conference regular season, hosted the first and second round of the NCAA National Championship Tournament where they fell to Tufts (MA) University, 80-70, in the first round.
