MORAVIAN’S ERIC WOODRUFF & BLAIR MAGINNIS NAMED LANDMARK CONFERENCE MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETEs OF THE WEEK

MADISON, NJ --- Sophomore sprinter/jumper Eric Woodruff (Brodheadsville, PA/Pius X HS) of the Moravian College men’s outdoor track & field team has been named the Landmark Conference Men’s Track Athlete of the Week while senior thrower Blair Maginnis (Asbury, NJ/Warren Hills Regional HS) earned Landmark Conference Men’s Field Athlete of the Week honors for their performances last week while leading Moravian to its second straight Landmark Conference title.

Woodruff, pictured at right, was named the Male Track Athlete of the Year after winning the 100-meter dash in a school record, a Landmark Conference meet record, an NCAA Division III provisional and ECAC qualifying time of 10.59 seconds, and capturing the 200-meter dash in a school record, a Landmark Conference meet record, an NCAA Division III automatic and ECAC qualifying time of 21.23 seconds. Woodruff also ran a leg on both of Moravian's winning relay teams, the 4x100-meter squad that won in a Landmark Conference meet record and ECAC qualifying time of 42.32 seconds, and the 4x400-meter team that had an ECAC qualifying time of 3:23.60.  In field events on the first day of the meet, Woodruff was third in the high jump at 1.78 meters (five feet, ten inches), and he also placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 6.36 meters (20 feet, 10 1/2 inches).

Maginnis, pictured at left, earned Male Field Athlete of the Year honors for the second straight year after capturing the shot put with an ECAC qualifying toss of 15.28 meters (50 feet, 1 3/4 inches) and winning the hammer throw with a Landmark Conference meet record and ECAC qualifying mark of 48.82 meters (160 feet, two inches) on the second day of the meet.  Maginnis captured the discus throw with a Landmark Conference meet record and ECAC qualifying distance of 42.57 meters (139 feet, eight inches) on the first day of the meet.

Moravian is not scheduled to return to action until Thursday, May 14th at the 2009 Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Outdoor Championships being hosted by Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts.
