FOUR GREYHOUND BASEBALL PLAYERS; TEAM RANKED IN NCAA DIVISION III STATISTICS;
Durso Leads Nation in Doubles

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Four members of the Moravian College baseball squad, and the Greyhound team are ranked in the sixth NCAA Division III statistics release of the 2009 season including games through April 26th.

Senior outfielder Joseph Durso (Middletown, NJ/Christian Brother Academy) leads the nation in doubles with 22 two-baggers in a school record 55 hits in Moravian’s 37 games third season.  Durso, pictured at right, is also fifth in doubles per game at 0.59 and tied for 31st RBIs with 51.

Sophomore outfielder/shortstop Jason Huber (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS), pictured at left, is tied for 45th in the country in runs with a school record 49 runs scored.

Freshman first baseman Kevin O’Keefe (Alexandria, VA/Bishop Ireton HS), pictured at bottom right, is tied for 15th in the nation in RBIs per game at 1.57 and tied for 21st in RBIs with a school record 55 this spring.

On the mound, freshman pitcher Brendan Close (Bethlehem, PA/Freedom HS), pictured at bottom left, is tied for 27th in the nation in strikeouts with a school record 71, and he is 24th in strikeouts per nine innings with an average of 11.27.

The Greyhounds are ranked in the top 50 in the nation in nine categories including being tied for 19th in the nation in doubles with 95 and 23rd in doubles per game with an average of 2.57.  Moravian is 26th in strikeouts per nine innings with an average of 8.1, 34th in walks allowed per nine innings at 3.20, tied for 36th in runs with 329, 46th in scoring with an average of 8.9 runs per game, tied for 40th with 16 triples, tied for 43rd in hits with 427 and tied for 22nd in sacrifice flies with 23.

Moravian, which is 20-17 on the season, is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, April 29th in a non-conference game vs. DeSales University beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Gillespie Field in Bethlehem to close out the 2009 regular season.
