MADISON, NJ --- Junior jumper/sprinter Symonne Scott (Attleboro, MA/Attleboro HS) of the Moravian College women’s indoor track & field team has been named the Landmark Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week while junior jumper/sprinter Rachel Riggs (Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg HS) has been honored as the Field Athlete of the Week for their performances last week.

Scott and Riggs helped Moravian to a strong opening to the season at the non-scoring Lehigh University Season Opener last Friday evening.

Scott, pictured at right, won a pair of events at the meet, and also had a runner-up finish. Scott won the 60-meter dash in a time of 8.10 seconds, and she was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash in 26.70 seconds.  Scott's other event win was the long jump with a leap of 5.43 meters (17 feet, 9 3/4 inches).  Scott qualified for the ECAC Championships in the 200-meter dash and the long jump while missing the qualifying mark in the 60-meter dash by just 0.04 seconds.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, January 17th at the Orange and Maroon Classic hosted by Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.
