MORAVIAN’S JESSICA POSIMO NAMED ECAC DIVISION III WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

CAPE COD, MA --- Junior jumper/sprinter Jessica Posimo (Philadelphia, PA/St. Basil Academy HS) of the Moravian College women’s indoor track & field team has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.

The Greyhounds placed first of 17 schools at the Frank Colden Invitational hosted by Ursinus College.  Moravian had a team score of 167 points while Johns Hopkins University was the runner-up with 90 points.

Posimo, who was also named the Landmark Conference Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, captured two individual titles and collected 36 points in the meet.  Posimo captured the long jump with an ECAC qualifying leap of 5.30 meters (17 feet, 5 3/4 inches) and the triple jump with an ECAC qualifying distance of 11.10 meters (36 feet, five inches).  On the track, Posimo was third in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.77 seconds after running an ECAC qualifying time of 8.74 seconds in the preliminaries.  She also ran on Moravian's winning 4x200-meter relay team that ran an ECAC qualifying time of 1:47.18.

Moravian will compete twice this weekend, first at the Cornell Open (multi-events) at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York on Friday evening and then at the Bucknell University Winter Classic in Lewisburg on Saturday.
