MORAVIAN WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD TEAM RANKED 21ST BY USTFCCCA

NEW ORLEANS, LA --- The Moravian College women’s track & field team is ranked 21st in the nation in the second NCAA Division III Dual Meet Rankings of the 2009 season released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association late Wednesday.

The Greyhounds have a total of 111.80 points and are the second team from the Mideast Region in the rankings.  Haverford College is 19th with 112.98 points.  The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is the top ranked team in the country with 144.09 points while Illinois Wesleyan University is second with 143.39 points.

A team's total point score is the sum of all points earned by that team in each event. Teams are allowed to select up to two athletes per event, and an athlete can only be used in a maximum of three events (not including relays). Only one relay team per event can be selected. Schools are responsible for submitting their own results. The points are based on the best marks in an event in the current season (it's not the athlete's personal best; it's their best this season), according to www.d3rankings.us which coordinates the poll.

Moravian will compete twice this weekend, first at the Cornell Open (multi-events) at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York on Friday evening and then at the Bucknell University Winter Classic in Lewisburg on Saturday.
