MORAVIAN SELECTED FOURTH IN 2009 CENTENNIAL CONFERENCE PRESEASON FOOTBALL POLL
LANCASTER, PA --- The Moravian College football team has been selected to finish fourth in the 2009 Centennial Conference preseason poll selected by the conference's head coaches and sports information directors and released after the 2009 Centennial Conference media day live chat.
The Greyhounds, under the direction of head coach Scot Dapp entering his 23rd season with a 135-91-1 record, return 56 letterwinners from last year's 8-3 squad as Moravian made its debut in the Centennial Conference as an associate member in the sport of football in 2007. The Greyhounds were 6-2 in their second Centennial Conference season last fall, and expect to have 100 players report to camp on August 15th.
Johns Hopkins University was selected first in the Centennial Conference poll with ten first-place votes and 115 points. Defending Centennial Conference Champion Muhlenberg College and Dickinson College were tied for second with 102 points with Muhlenberg receiving five first-place votes and Dickinson garnering two first-place votes. Moravian earned the final first-place vote and a total of 91 points for fourth while Gettysburg College was selected fifth with 75 points. Rounding out the poll was Franklin & Marshall College in sixth with 63 points, Ursinnus College at seventh with 45 points, McDaniel College in eighth with 26 points and Juniata College with 22 points.
Moravian will begin its 2009 schedule on Saturday, September 5th in a non-conference game at Susquehanna University kicking off at 1:00 p.m. in Selinsgrove while the Greyhounds will open their Centennial Conference season on Saturday, September 12th versus McDaniel College at Rocco Calvo Field in Bethlehem beginning at 1:00 p.m.
