MORAVIAN SOFTBALL SQUAD EARNS TEAM ACADEMIC AWARD FROM NFCA

STARKVILLE, MS --- The Moravian College softball team has been named a 2008-09 girls got game Team Academic Award winner by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

The Greyhounds, who posted a 36-11 record last season while winning their second straight Landmark Conference title and reaching the NCAA Division III Tournament for the 11th time in 12 seasons, had a team GPA of 3.230 under head coach John Byrne

Moravian was ranked 46th of the 77 NCAA Division III teams to earn NFCA All-Academic Team honors while Emerson College was first with a team GPA of 3.51.  The Greyhounds are one of two Landmark Conference schools with Susquehanna ranked 12th with a team GPA of 3.379.  The NFCA honored 432 schools in the NCAA, NAIA and high school divisions.

The 2010 Greyhound softball team will begin its season on Tuesday, March 9th with the first of ten games in Panama City, Florida.
