MORAVIAN MEN’S LACROSSE TO PARTICIPATE IN 4TH ANNUAL LACROSSE FOR SMILES ON OCTOBER 11TH

BETHLEHEM, PA --- The Moravian College men’s lacrosse team will be participating in the Fourth Annual Lacrosse for Smiles tournament hosted by Christopher Newport University on Sunday, October 11th at Old Redskin Park in Herndon, Virginia as part of Moravian’s fall play day.

Northern Virginia-based TripleEDGE Lacrosse, which teamed with Christopher Newport to found ‘Lacrosse for Smiles’ in 2006 again returns as the event’s title sponsor.  All proceeds from the day will benefit Operation Smile, a worldwide children’s medical charity whose network of global volunteers are dedicated to helping improve the health and lives of children and young adults.  Since its founding, Operation Smile volunteers have provided medical treatment to more than 130,000 children born with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities.

“We are thrilled to be a part of this event and appreciate all of the support that TripleEDGE Lacrosse provides,” commented CNU Head Men’s Lacrosse Coach Chris Swanenburg.  “With their help, we’ve been able to promote an incredibly worthy cause and help others who are not nearly as fortunate.”  To date, ‘Lacrosse for Smiles’ has contributed nearly $24,000 to Operation Smile.

Joining CNU and Moravian in the round-robin play day will be the University of Mary Washington and St. Mary’s College of Maryland.  Games will be held at Old Redskin Park in Herndon, Virginia with the first face-offs taking place at 2:00 p.m.  Face-offs are also slated for 3:25 and 4:50 p.m.
