WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

MADISON, NJ --- Senior sprinter Rachel Beck (Churchville, PA/Council Rock South HS) of the Moravian College women’s indoor track & field team has been named the Landmark Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week while senior pole vaulter Anna Heim (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown HS) has been honored as the Field Athlete of the Week for their performances last week.

Beck, pictured at right, and Heim helped Moravian to win the 2010 Landmark Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships this past Saturday at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.  It was the third straight Landmark Conference title for the Greyhounds.

Beck was named the Track Athlete of the Year by winning two events and running on a first-place relay squad.  Beck finished first in the 55-meter dash in an ECAC Division III qualifying time of 7.46 seconds, and she won the 200-meter dash in an ECAC qualifying time of 26.83 seconds. Beck also ran a leg on the winning 4x200-meter relay in an ECAC qualifying time of 1:47.05.

Heim, pictured at left, was honored as the Field Athlete of the Year with the best indoor performance of her career.  Heim set a school record and possible NCAA Division III indoor record in the pole vault clearing an NCAA Division III automatic qualifying and ECAC qualifying height of 4.10 meters (13 feet, 5 1/4 inches).  Heim, who was named the Landmark Conference Field Athlete of the Week for the third time this season, also earned a first place in the 4x400-meter relay, helping post a time of 4:16.51.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Friday and Saturday, March 5th and 6th, at the 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference Division III Indoor Championships hosted by Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts.
