FOUR MORAVIAN STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO LANDMARK CONFERENCE WINTER ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

MADISON N.J. - Seniors Kate Harrison (Cold Spring Harbor, NY/Cold Spring Harbor HS), Anna Heim (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown HS) and Christian Seebode (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg HS) and junior Christopher Cullen (East Islip, NY/East Islip HS) from Moravian College have been named to the 2010 Landmark Conference All-Academic Team announced by the conference office.

The Landmark Conference has selected 32 student-athletes for the 2010 Winter Landmark All-Academic Team. Two male and two female athletes from each of the eight Landmark institutions were selected for the team which honors athletes who have excelled athletically and academically. Nominees could compete in any of the winter sports and must be a sophomore or older with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

The Winter Academic Team features 18 seniors, nine juniors, and five sophomores. In addition, all six winter sports sponsored by the Landmark Conference are represented with at least one student athlete. The Landmark Conference will select an All-Academic Team for each of the three athletics seasons during the year.

Harrison, pictured at left, has been a standout for the Moravian women’s basketball team for the past four years.  This past season she was named to the Lehigh Valley Small College Basketball Team of the Year where she was recognized as the Co-Pete Nevins Player of the Year.  Harrison was also named to the Division III South All-Star Second Team, D3hoops.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region Third Team, Women’s DIII News Honorable Mention All-Americans, State Farm® Coaches’ All-America Team Honorable Mention and the Landmark All-Conference First Team in the 2009-10 season.  She also led the Greyhounds to their first ever Landmark Conference Championship title and a berth into the Division III NCAA National Championship Tournament.  She is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education/Psychology and is a three time Academic Honor Roll honoree.

Heim, pictured at right, helped Moravian win its third Landmark Indoor Track and Field Championship while also going on to win the 2010 NCAA Division III Indoor National Championship in Pole Vault by clearing a school and NCAA Division III all-time best height of 4.16 meters (13 feet, 7 ¾ inches).  In the past, she has been named to every All-Conference First Team (indoor and outdoor) for Pole Vault except for her freshmen indoor season. Heim has also has been named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team in the 4x400 meter relay in 2008 (outdoor), 2009 (outdoor) and 2010 (indoor).  She has is majoring in Art Education.

Seebode, pictured at left, has been a big part of the success of the Moravian men’s track and field program throughout his career.  This past indoor season, he was named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team in Shot-Put with a toss of 12.55 meters (41 feet, 2 1/4 inches) and to the All-Conference Second Team in the Weight Throw by hitting 13.12 meters (43 feet, 1/2 inch).  He also competed in the Javelin and had his best distance of the season at the Lehigh Season Opener where he reached 43.31 meters (142 feet, ½ inch).  Seebode also helped the men’s track team to win its second Landmark Conference Indoor Championship in the three-year history of the conference with a team score of 215 points at the 2010 meet hosted by Susquehanna University.  He is pursuing a major in Business management.

Cullen, pictured at right, has been a major contributor to the Moravian men’s basketball team in his three years on the team.  In 2010, he was named to the Landmark All-Conference Second Team while also being named to the 2009 Landmark Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll.  Cullen was also named to the 2010 32nd Annual Greyhound Starters Classic All-Tournament Team.  He averaged 12.4 points per game to go along with 26 steals, 25 blocked shots, and 27 assists all while leading the team in rebounds (166) and in three pointers (38) last season.  Cullen is a two time Academic Honor Roll honoree and is majoring in Biology.
