MORAVIAN SOFTBALL SQUAD MOVES INTO TIE FOR 22ND IN LATEST NFCA DIVISION III TOP 25 POLL 

STARKVILLE, MS --- The Moravian College softball team moved into a tie for 22nd in the nation in the sixth poll National Fastpitch Coaches Association NCAA Division III Top 25 Poll of the 2010 regular season released Wednesday. 

Louisiana College is first in the poll for the fourth consecutive week with all eight first place votes and 200 points while the Greyhounds received 27 points to move up from 25th last week after three weeks of receiving votes.  Moravian is tied with Gustavus Adolphus (MN) College for 22nd place/

Moravian, under the direction of 17th-year head coach John Byrne, opened the season with a 6-4 record at the 2010 NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic in Panama City Beach, Florida.  Eight of the Greyhounds ten games on the trip were against teams that are or have been ranked this season including a 15-3 loss to #2 East Texas Baptist University, a 13-6 victory over #20 Transylvania (KY) University and an 8-6 win over Gustavus Adolphus.

Moravian is one of three teams from the East Region ranked with the Greyhounds being joined by seventh ranked Messiah College and eighth ranked The College of New Jersey, which split a doubleheader with the Greyhounds, each team winning by scores of 1-0.
