MORAVIAN MEN’S TENNIS SQUAD TO TRAVEL TO THE UNIVERSITY OF SCRANTON IN
LANDMARK CONFERENCE SEMIFINALS

BETHLEHEM, PA --- The Moravian College men’s tennis team has earned the third seed in the 2010 Landmark Conference Championship Tournament and will travel to second seeded The University of Scranton in a semifinal match on Wednesday, May 5th in Scranton beginning at 3:00 p.m.

The Greyhounds are 7-7 overall and posted a 5-2 mark in the Landmark Conference regular season while the Royals are 14-5 overall and 6-1 in Landmark Conference action.  Wednesday’s other semifinal has top seeded Drew University hosting fourth seed The Catholic University of America at 4:30 p.m.  The semifinal winners will meet on Saturday, May 8th at the highest remaining seed to determine the Landmark Conference Champion.

Moravian head coaches Bill Maxwell has led the Greyhounds in the postseason for the four straight season is his first year as head coach.  Moravian and Drew played for the conference title last spring, the Greyhounds’ first-ever championship match appearance.

Sophomore Nick Yelito (Tamaqua, PA/Tamaqua HS) leads the Greyhounds in victories this spring with a 13-7 singles slate including an 8-1 mark at sixth singles while junior Thomas Turcich (Haddon Township, NJ/Haddon Township HS) is 4-1.  Sophomore Kevin Holze (Bayside, NY/St. Francis Prep HS) has a 10-11 singles mark with a 5-3 record at second singles and a 2-4 slate third singles this season while senior Chandler Forman (Plymouth, MA/Plymouth HS) is 7-6 with a 4-3 mark at fifth singles.

Junior Doug Morrow (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh HS), who has been out of the line-up recently with an injury, is 2-8 this season with a 2-4 slate at second singles while senior Ian Box (Charlestown, PA/The Rivers School HS) is 5-13 in singles action and 4-10 at first singles.  Senior Jason Bonilla (Whitestone, NY/Bayside HS) is 3-3 in singles action for the Greyhounds while sophomore Drew Shreter (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown HS) is 7-12 on the year including a 5-3 mark at third singles.  Sophomore Stefan Apostolos (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough HS) has a 4-5 singles record.

In doubles action for Moravian, Box and Shreter are 5-0, and Shreter also has a 2-2 mark with Forman at third doubles.  Morrow and Yelito have a 2-1 doubles mark while Forman and Turcich are 7-6.  Holze and Shreter have combined for a 1-1 doubles record while Apostolos and Morrow have a 2-2 mark.  Box and Holze are 2-9 on the season playing as Moravian's top doubles pair while Apostolos and Holze have a 4-2 second doubles mark.  Box and Morrow are 2-1 in doubles action.  Box had a career doubles mark of 41-31, a school record for doubles victories.
