GREYHOUNDS REMAIN 3RD IN FINAL NCAA DIVISION III SOFTBALL REGIONAL POLL OF 2010 SEASON

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- The Moravian College softball team remained third for the second straight week in the East Region in the third and final 2010 NCAA Division III Regional Rankings released Wednesday.

The Greyhounds, who have an in-region record of 21-7, which is what the poll is mainly based on, trail Lebanon Valley College and The College of New Jersey and are ahead of Susquehanna University, Ramapo College of New Jersey, Messiah College, Rowan University and Ursinus College.  Moravian is 2-0 against Ramapo this season, and the Greyhounds are 1-1 against both The College of New Jersey and Susquehanna.  Moravian is 0-2 against Lebanon Valley.

Moravian traveled to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Leadoff Classic back in March had has a win over Transylvania (KY) University, ranked fifth in the Central Region, a victory over Emerson (MA) College, ranked sixth in the Northeast Region, and a win versus Gustavus Adolphus (MN) College, ranked sixth in the Midwest Region.  The Greyhounds also had a loss to East Texas Baptist University, ranked fifth in the West Region, and two losses to Mount Union (OH) College, ranked fourth in the Central Region.

The Greyhounds, who are 27-11-9 overall, are slated to return to action on Friday, May 7th as the host of the 2010 Landmark Conference Tournament at Blue & Grey Field.  Top seeded Moravian will play fourth seeded Juniata College in the tournament’s opening game at 11:00 a.m.
