MORAVIAN TO SEND 28 STUDENT-ATHLETES TO COMPETE AT 2010 ECAC DIVISION III
OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

            SPRINGFIELD, MA --- Moravian College has qualified 28 student-athletes, 15 females and 13 males, to compete at the 2010 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts on Thursday, May 13th and Friday, May 14th.
            Both of the Greyhound squads are looking to repeat as ECAC Outdoor Champions for a third straight year after capturing the titles the last two years in meets also hosted by Springfield.  Moravian’s men’s and women’s teams won their third consecutive Landmark Conference Championships on May 2nd.
            On the women’s side, senior Jessica Posimo (Philadelphia, PA/St. Basil Academy) will be competing in three individual events.  Posimo qualified in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.88 seconds, which is ranked 19th in the nation, the long jump with a leap of 5.59 meters (18 feet, 4 ¼ inches) and in the triple jump at 11.25 meters (36 feet, 11 inches).
            Seniors Rachel Beck (Churchville, PA/Council Rock South HS), Symonne Scott (Attleboro, MA/Attleboro HS), Dana Haslett (Souderton, PA/Pennridge HS) and sophomore Rachel Riggs (Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg HS) will run in the 4x100-meter relay after the quartet qualified with a time of 48.20, tenth in the nation   
            Beck is also scheduled to run in the 100-meter dash after qualifying in 12.27 seconds and the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.22 seconds while Haslett will run on the same two events with qualifying marks of 12.58 and 26.30 seconds.  Scott will compete in three events, the 100-meter dash with a qualifying time of 12.23 seconds, the 200-meter dash with a qualifying mark of 25.97 seconds and the long jump with a qualifying leap of 5.79 meters (19 feet), which is tied for eighth in the nation.
            Junior Alyssa Wert (Orefield, PA/Allentown Central Catholic HS) will run in the 100-meter dash with a qualifying time of 12.46 seconds, and she will compete in the 200-meter dash with a qualifying mark of 26.08 seconds.  Moravian will also be running a 4x400-meter relay squad made up of seniors Anna Heim (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown HS) and Katelyn Chando (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh HS) and sophomores Kristina Ruggiero (Cedar Grove, NJ/Cedar Grove HS) and Lisa Williamson (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson West Lawn HS) which had a qualifying time of 4:05.50.
            In the field events, Heim will compete in the pole vault after clearing a qualifying height of 3.95 meters (12 feet, 11 ½ inches), which is currently second in nation and automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships while junior Rebekah Finn (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty HS) qualified with a vault of 3.50 meters (11 feet, 5 ¾ inches.  Junior Mary King (Paramus, NJ/Paramus HS) is qualified in the javelin throw with a toss of 41.24 meters (135 feet, four inches) that is 14th in the nation while junior Kaleen Holden (Scranton, PA/Bishop Hoban HS) has a qualifying mark of 38.78 meters (127 feet, three inches) in the javelin.
            Sophomore Brittany Moses (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge HS) is qualified in the discus throw with a qualifying toss of 43.20 meters (141 feet, nine inches), which is 16th in the nation, and Moses will also compete in the hammer throw with a qualifying mark of 46.03 meters (151 feet).  Freshman Micah Leonard will compete in two events for Moravian, entering the long jump at 5.50 meters (18 feet, ½ inch) and the triple jump with a qualifying mark of 11.66 meters (38 feet, 3 ¼ inches), tied for 14th in the country.
            On the men’s side, junior Eric Woodruff (Brodheadsville, PA/St. Pius X HS) is scheduled to run in a pair of events after setting school records in the 100-meter dash in 10.56 seconds, which is fourth in the nation, and in the 200-meter dash in 20.82 seconds, which is the fastest in the country and automatically qualified for next week’s NCAA Championship meet. 
            Woodruff will also run in the 4x100-meter relay with sophomores Nicco Dalpiaz (Sunbury, PA/Shikallemy HS) and Kyle D’Angelo (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern HS) and freshman Justin Taylor (Randolph, NJ/Randolph HS) after the quartet qualified in 41.81 seconds, currently tenth in the nation.  Woodruff and Taylor are also part of Moravian’s 4x400-meter relay squad with junior Warner Jones (Hillsborough, NJ/Hillsborough HS) and senior Steve Parisi () that qualified in 3:23.26.
            Taylor is scheduled to also compete in the 400-meter dash after a qualifying time of 49.82 seconds while Parisi will run in the 800 meters with a qualifying mark of 1L54.58. Sophomore Steve Ambrosi (Parsippany, NJ/Parsippany Hills HS) is competing in the 500-meter hurdles with a qualifying time of 56.06 while sophomore Matt Lutcza (Dingmans Ferry, PA/ Delaware Valley HS) ran a time of 15:09.44 in the 5,000-meter run on Monday evening to qualify.
            Senior Michael Blenk (Inwood, NY/Lawrence HS) is slated to compete in the decathlon after scoring 5,470 points while winning the Landmark Conference decathlon championship.  Sophomore Timothy Layng (Canton, PA/Canton HS) and Dalpiaz are both qualified in the pole vault at a height of 4.72 meters (15 feet, 5 ¾ inches) that is tied for 21st in the nation.  Sophomore Gary Zack (Mountain Top, PA/Crestwood HS) will be competing in the javelin throw with a qualifying toss of 63.17 meters (207 feet, three inches), which is automatically qualified for the NCAA Championships and sixth in the nation while freshman Travis King (Wilmington, DE/Concord HS) will compete in the triple jump after a qualifying mark of 13.77 meters (45 feet, 2 ¼ inches)  Freshman Jonathan Heberling (Slatington, PA/Northern Lehigh HS) will be in the long jump after a qualifying mark of 6.76 meters (22 feet, 2 ¼ inches).
