MORAVIAN HEADED TO TRENTON, NJ FOR 2010 NCAA DIVISION III BASEBALL REGIONAL

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- The Moravian College baseball team has been assigned to the Trenton, New Jersey Regional being hosted by Kean University and will begin competition in the 2010 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament on Wednesday, May 19th in the Greyhounds first-ever NCAA Tournament game.
The Greyhounds are seeded eighth and will face top-seeded and nationally-ranked number one Johns Hopkins University on Wednesday at 1:15 p.m. at the Trenton Thunder Stadium.  The other first round games at the eight-team Trenton Regional are fourth seed Alvernia University versus fifth seed Keystone College at 10:00 a.m., third seed Widener University vs. sixth seeded Rowan University at 4:30 p.m. and second seeded Kean versus seventh seed Manhattanville College at 7:45 p.m.  Competition runs through May 23rd with the regional winner advancing to the NCAA Division III World Series in Appleton, Wisconsin beginning on Friday, May 28th.
Moravian is having its best season in school history under the direction of fourth-year head coach Paul Engelhardt, who has an 80-74 record.  The Greyhounds captured their first Landmark Conference title and an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament, and Moravian has a school record 26 wins this season and is 26-13 overall.  The squad was 14-4 during the Landmark Conference regular season, and the 80 wins over the last four years are the most in any four-year group in school history.
This is technically the second time Moravian has had a baseball team qualify for the NCAA Tournament.  The Greyhounds’ 1960 squad earned a berth after defeating the University of Delaware in the Middle Atlantic Conference Championship game; however, the NCAA did not allow freshmen to compete in the tournament at that time and Moravian was unable to field a squad without its freshmen so the team did not play in the tournament.
