NINE MORAVIAN STUDENT-ATHLETES TO COMPETE AT
2010 NCAA DIVISION III OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

            BEREA, OH --- Moravian College has qualified nine student-athletes, seven females and two males, to compete at the 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio from Thursday, May 27th through Saturday, May 29th.
            Senior Anna Heim (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown HS) will compete in the women’s pole vault at the National Championships for the second time this season and the eighth time in her career after participating in the NCAA indoor meet back in March where she won the national championship with an NCAA record vault of 4.16 meters (13 feet, 7 ¾ inches).  Heim, a five-time All-American in the pole vault with two runner-up finishes and her indoor national championship earlier this spring, has the top qualifying height at 4.17 meters (13 feet, 8 ¼ inches), which is a Moravian record and the all-time best in NCAA Division III history.  She is scheduled to compete on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
            Senior Symonne Scott (Attleboro, MA/Attleboro HS) is making her fifth trip to the NCAA Championships and will compete in the long jump and the 100-meter dash.  Scott, who has earned All-America honors twice indoors in the long jump, is tied for 11th in the long jump with a distance of 5.79 meters (19 feet), and will compete in the event on Thursday at 3:00 p.m.  Scott is 21st of 22 qualifiers in the 100-meter dash in 12.22 seconds with the preliminaries on Friday at 4:40 p.m. and the finals on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. 
            Scott will also compete in the 4x100-meter relay with seniors Rachel Beck (Churchville, PA/Council Rock South HS), Dana Haslett (Souderton, PA/Pennridge HS) and Rachel Riggs (Gettysburg, PA/Gettysburg HS).  The quartet has the 12th fastest qualifying time of 47.91, and will run in the preliminary heats on Thursday at 3:45 p.m.  The finals are scheduled for Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
            Junior Mary King (Paramus, NJ/Paramus HS) is making her second trip to nationals after earning All-America honors in the javelin as a freshman.  King qualified 15th at 41.24 meters (135 feet, four inches) and will compete on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
            Freshman Micah Leonard (York, PA/William Penn HS) is making her second appearance at the NCAA Championships this year after earning All-America honors in the long jump indoors.  Leonard will be competing in the triple jump outdoors after tying for 15th in qualifying at 11.66 meters (38 feet, 3 ¼ inches).  The triple jump is scheduled for Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
            Sophomore Eric Woodruff (Brodheadsville, PA/St. Pius X HS) is making his second trip to the national championships and will be competing in a pair of events for the Greyhounds as he tries to defend his national title in the 200-meter dash.  Woodruff will run in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash on Thursday at 6:15 p.m. after qualifying with the fastest time in the nation and a Moravian record of 20.82 seconds.  The finals are scheduled for Saturday at 3:45 p.m.  Woodruff will run in the 100-meter dash trials on Friday at 4:55 p.m. after qualifying fourth with a school record time of 10.56 seconds.  The finals for the 100-meter dash are Saturday at 2:40 p.m.  Woodruff earned All-America honors in both events last spring.
            Sophomore Gary Zack (Canton, PA/Canton HS) is also making his second trip to the national championships to compete in the javelin throw.  Zack, who reached the finals last year, qualified sixth with a toss of 63.17 meters (207 feet, three inches).  He will compete on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
