MORAVIAN’S JENNA CARMON NAMED TO ECAC SOUTH SOFTBALL ALL-STAR TEAM

CAPE COD, MA --- Sophomore pitcher Jenna Carmon (Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central HS) of the Moravian College softball team has been named to the 2010 ECAC Division III South All-Star Second Team announced late Thursday.

Carmon, the 2010 Landmark Conference Pitcher of the Year for a second straight season, helped Moravian to a 34-15 record this season with a trip to the NCAA Division III World Series, an NCAA Regional championship and the school’s third straight Landmark Conference title.  Moravian has won 11 consecutive conference titles and won over 30 games in each of the last ten seasons.

Carmon, who named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team this spring, led Moravian this spring with a 25-10 record and two saves to go with a 1.46 ERA, 28 walks, 126 strikeouts, 23 complete games and eight shutouts in 225 1/3 innings of action.  At the plate, Carmon, who was on the Landmark All-Conference First Team as a pitcher and Second Team as a designated player in 2009, finished with a .320 average to go along with 47 hits, 30 runs, eight doubles, two triples, four home runs, seven walks, three stolen bases and 30 RBIs.  In the field, Carmon contributed 36 putouts and 80 assists in 117 chances while seeing action in the circle and at first base.
