MORAVIAN’S SYMONNE SCOTT & MICAH LEONARD HONORED AS LANDMARK CONFERENCE
WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

MADISON, NJ --- Senior jumper/sprinter Symonne Scott (Attleboro, MA/Attleboro HS) of the Moravian College women’s indoor track & field team has been named the Landmark Conference Women’s Track Athlete of the Week while freshman jumper/sprinter Micah Leonard (York, PA/William HS) has been honored as the Field Athlete of the Week for their performances last week.

Scott, pictured at right, and Leonard helped Moravian to a strong opening to the season at the non-scoring Lehigh University Season Opener last Friday evening. 

Scott had a trio of runner-up finishes at the non-scored Lehigh University Season Opener.  Scott was second in the 60-meter dash in 8.14 seconds, and she was the runner-up in the 200-meter dash in 27.47 seconds.  In field events, Scott was second in the long jump with an ECAC Division III qualifying distance of 5.28 meters (17 feet, four inches).

Leonard had an outstanding collegiate debut at the Lehigh University Season Opener.  Leonard won the triple jump with an ECAC Division III qualifying distance of 11.16 meters (36 feet, 7 1/2 inches), and she was eighth in the long jump at 5.00 meters (16 feet, five inches).  On the track, Leonard placed 11th in the 60-meter dash in a time of 8.50 seconds, finishing behind five teammates, three runners from Lehigh, one unattached and one from DeSales.  In the 60-meter dash, 10 of the 17 runners were from Moravian.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, January 23rd at the Orange and Maroon Classic hosted by Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania.
