THREE GREYHOUNDS, MORAVIAN TEAM RANKED IN NCAA DIVISION III WOMEN’S BASKETBALL STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Three players on the Moravian College women’s basketball team are ranked in the third NCAA Division III statistics release of the 2009-10 season including games through January 10th, and the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 50 of 424 teams in seven categories.

Senior forward Kirsty Stearns (East Norwich, NY/Oyster Bay HS), pictured at right, is 70th in the nation in free throw percentage at 83.3 percent, having made 55 of 66 free throw attempts this season.

Sophomore forward Alexandra Blair (Hellertown, PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS), pictured at left, is tied for 40th in the nation in blocked shots at 2.1 with 27 blocked shots in 13 games.

Senior guard Katie Harrison (Cold Spring Harbor, NY/Cold Spring Harbor HS) is tied for 86th in assist-turnover ratio this season at 1.33 assists to turnovers.  Harrison, pictured at bottom right, has committed just 30 turnovers in 13 games this winter while dishing out 40 assists.

Moravian, which led the nation in free throw percentage last season, is currently 12th from the foul line at 76.1 percent (242-for-318).  The Greyhounds are also tied for tenth in blocked shots per game at 5.9, ninth in scoring offense at 76.8 pointers per game, 25th in field goal percentage defense at 33.1 percent, 30th in turnover margin at 6.0, tied for 21st in winning percentage at 84.6 percent and 50th in field goal percentage at 42.7 percent (360-of-843).

The Greyhounds, who are now 11-2 overall and 3-0 in Landmark Conference action, will return to the court on Friday, January 15th in a Landmark Conference game at Susquehanna University tipping off at 5:30 p.m..  Moravian is currently ranked 16th in the nation in the D3hoops.com Top 25 polls, and the Greyhounds are ranked 19th in the USA Today/ESPN Division III Coaches.
