FOUR GREYHOUNDS, MORAVIAN TEAM RANKED IN NCAA DIVISION III WOMEN’S BASKETBALL STATISTICS

INDIANAPOLIS, IN --- Four players on the Moravian College women’s basketball team are ranked in the eighth NCAA Division III statistics release of the 2009-10 season including games through February 14th, and the Greyhounds are ranked in the top 50 of 424 teams in ten categories.

Sophomore forward Alexandra Blair (Hellertown, PA/Bethlehem Catholic HS) is 18th in the nation in blocked shots at 2.7 per game with 60 blocked shots in 22 games.  Blair, pictured at right, had 13 blocked shots in Moravian’s two games last weekend.

Senior forward Kirsty Stearns (East Norwich, NY/Oyster Bay HS), pictured at left, is 33rd in the nation in free throw percentage at 85.4 percent, having made 82 of 96 free throw attempts this season.

Senior guard Jessica Foran (Annandale, NJ/Rutgers Prep HS), pictured at right, is also ranked in free throw percentage at 72nd at 81.7 percent, making 67 of 82 free throw attempts.

Senior guard Kate Harrison (Cold Spring Harbor, NY/Cold Spring Harbor HS) is 48th in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio at 1.55.  Harrison has dished out 68 assists and made just 44 turnovers through 22 games this winter. 

Foran, Harrison, pictured at left, and Stearns have all surpassed the 1,000-point plateau for their careers during Moravian’s last seven games.

Moravian, which led the nation in free throw percentage last season, is currently third in the country from the foul line at 77.4 percent (421-for-544).  The Greyhounds are second in scoring offense at 79.8 points per game, second in blocked shots per game at 6.7, 10th in turnover margin at 7.05, 12th in scoring margin at +17.9 points per game, tied for 14th in winning percentage at 90.9 percent, 26th in field goal percentage at 43.6 percent (629-of-1,442), 34th in assist-to-turnover ratio at 0.90, 46th in field goal percentage defense at 34.6 percent (491-of-1,418) and 46th in assists per game at 15.5.

The Greyhounds, who are now 20-2 overall and 11-0 in Landmark Conference action, will return to the court on Tuesday, February 16th in a Landmark Conference game at Goucher College tipping off at 5:30 p.m. in Towson, Maryland. 

Moravian is currently ranked ninth in the nation in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll, and the Greyhounds are tied for 11th in the USA Today/ESPN Division III Coaches.
