MORAVIAN’S KIRSTY STEARNS NAMED TO D3HOOPS.COM TEAM OF THE WEEK PRESENTED BY SCOUTWARE

MINNEAPOLIS, MN --- Senior forward Kirsty Stearns (East Norwich, NY/Oyster Bay HS) of the Moravian College women’s basketball team has been named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week presented by Scoutware for her performance last week. 

Stearns, who was also named the Landmark Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, helped ninth-ranked Moravian to a 3-0 record in the final week of the regular season as the Greyhounds finished the Landmark Conference season 14-0 and earned the top seed in the 2010 Landmark Conference Tournament while running the team's winning streak to 18 games, the third longest in school history.  Stearns averaged a double-double at 12.0 points and 10.3 rebounds per game last week.  For the week, Stearns was 16-for-27 from the floor (59.3 percent) and a perfect four-for-four at the foul line.  She averaged just under 25 minutes per game and finished the week with 12 blocked shots, eight steals and five assists while committing just six fouls and six turnovers.

Stearns, who is the second Moravian player to make the D3hoops.com Team of the Week presented by Scoutware this month, began the week with 14 points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots in a 71-58 win at Goucher College.  She then had ten points, ten rebounds, three assists and three steals in an 82-63 victory at The Catholic University of America.  Stearns finished the week with another double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds while tying her career high with six blocked shots in a 77-60 win over 13th-ranked The University of Scranton. 

The Greyhounds, who are 24-2 overall, will return to the court on Saturday, February 27th in a Landmark Conference Championship game versus 15th-ranked The University of Scranton tipping off at 2:00 p.m. in Johnston Hall.
