MORAVIAN WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL SQUAD SELECTED FIFTH IN LANDMARK CONFERENCE PRESEASON POLL

MADISON, N.J. --- The Moravian College women’s volleyball squad has been picked fifth in the 2010 Landmark Conference season in a preseason poll selected by the conference’s head coaches and sports information directors.

Juniata College, the three-time defending Landmark Conference Champion, was selected first in the poll with 70 points, eight points ahead of second place Susquehanna University with 62 points. The Catholic University of America earned 51 points for the third spot while Goucher College was selected fourth with 38 points.  The Greyhounds were four points back with 34 in fifth place while The University of Scranton was sixth with 20 points and The United States Merchant Marine Academy rounded out the poll with 19 points.

Moravian has its sights set on a sixth straight trip to the postseason in 2009 with the return of all six starters and nine letterwinners. The Greyhounds look to challenge for a berth into the Landmark Conference Tournament.  Head coach Shelley Bauder looks for improvement over last year’s 15-18 record that reached the quarterfinals of the Landmark Conference tournament.

The Greyhounds begin their 2010 season on Wednesday, September 1st with a non-conference match at DeSales University and then Moravian hosts the 8th Annual Greyhound Premiere Tournament in Johnston Hall and Breidegam Fieldhouse on September 3rd & 4th.  The Landmark Conference will play two round-round weekends during the season with the first scheduled for October 2nd & 3rd.
